Rep. Jed Davis (left) hosts a Blood Drive w/Versiti Blood Center of Illinois
Illinois hospitals and clinics depend on a steady supply of donated blood to care for patients statewide. When the blood supply runs low, it puts everyone at risk. A reliable supply of blood allows our healthcare systems to function effectively, as providers can properly plan surgeries, treat traumas, and respond to emergencies without delay.

Donating blood is an easy and practical way to save lives and benefit your community. The blood collected at these drives can be used in a number of different treatments, including for patients with cancer, burns, sickle-cell disease, chronic illness, and more.
As the price of everything in Illinois from groceries to utilities seems to be on the rise, a group of House Republican lawmakers have introduced legislation to help working families meet these ever-rising costs.

The bills introduced by this group of legislators, collectively known as the Relief for Working Families legislative package, would encourage entrepreneurship, help tipped employees keep all of their gratuities, and create opportunities for technical skill-building that can lead to high-paying jobs.
State Representatives Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro), Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville), Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich), Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City), Jed Davis (R-Yorkville), and Marty McLaughlin (R-Barrington Hills) held a press conference this week highlighting the looming budget pressures, wasteful spending, and the need for Illinois DOGE implementation.

May 8th marks World Ovarian Cancer Day. The day was established in 2013 by leaders from various ovarian cancer advocacy organizations around the world to join forces to fight against and raise awareness for the aggressive disease.

Ovarian cancer is a growth of cells that form in the ovaries and is one of the hardest cancers to diagnose, next to pancreatic and renal cancers, due to its vague symptoms that often progress before a diagnosis is given. It is also among the deadliest cancer for women along with lung and breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society’s 2025 estimates, about 20,890 women in the United States will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer and about 12,730 women will die from the disease this year alone.

Every child deserves the love, stability, and support of a permanent family. National Adoption Day, held annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, is a reminder of the need to help children in foster care find loving homes. This year, on November 23rd, communities across Illinois and the nation will unite to raise awareness about adoption and celebrate the thousands of families formed through it each year.

In this latest episode of our Have All Voted Who Wish podcast, we hear from Illinois State Representative Jed Davis.

Representative Davis talks about his first term in the Illinois General Assembly and how he is laser-focused on keeping kids safe. This session he introduced a legislative package of bills crafted to provide greater protections for children.

Rep. Jed Davis' protecting children legislative package includes the following bills:

House Bill 4350, also known as the Child Abuse Notice Act, sponsored by State Representative Jed Davis (R-Yorkville), passed on the House floor last week. The bill will now move to the Senate for a vote.

“The passage of the Child Abuse Notice Act is a huge step forward to save children in Illinois facing abuse and trafficking,” said Rep. Davis. “Many children in these situations are kept away from places where adults may recognize the signs of abuse. This bill will target victims in locations identified by the Illinois State Police, such as truck stops, train stations, and tattoo parlors.”

Christmas time is a time to unwind, enjoy the company of friends and family, cherish gift giving, and partake in traditions, both new and old. For some, Christmas traditions remain orthodox, and others offer quite a twist. From eating a holiday delicacy, to watching a beloved Christmas film, to driving around the town looking at decorations and lights, all traditions are a special time for bonding and reflection of the year. Considering the holiday season, some members of the House Republican Caucus have shared a few of their favorite Christmas traditions.

In January of 2023, the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) was faced with a lawsuit accusing the agency of mistreating children in their care by having them sent to juvenile detention facilities. Sadly, these allegations are not the first leveled against the agency tasked with protecting foster children.

House Republicans have been leading the fight to reform this agency and to offer the necessary support to foster children and families for years. With the beginning of the 103rd General Assembly, House Republican Leader Tony McCombie rededicated caucus efforts to the work that needed to be done to protect children.
