Illinois deserves an honest accounting of where we are and how we got here. Governor Pritzker’s record speaks for itself. Below are just a few examples of how his leadership has failed Illinois:
Extreme Policies That Hurt Families and Businesses
- He signed SB 328, opening the floodgates to frivolous lawsuits that threaten small businesses and job creators.
- He signed HB 3125, allowing illegal immigrants to become driving instructors.
- He signed HB 460, granting taxpayer funded college aid to illegal immigrants while many Illinois families struggle to afford tuition.
- Governor Pritzker insists his policies have made Illinois safer, but even MSNBC and a Chicago Democratic alderman have publicly criticized his record on crime.
- After more than 50 people were shot over Labor Day weekend, the Governor brushed it off by saying, “Look, big cities have crime.”
- WGN Investigates found the Department of Corrections does not know how many recently released prisoners have gone on to commit new crimes.
- Since 2018, DCFS has ignored state law requiring public reports on child deaths and serious injuries, leaving more than 1,200 deaths and 3,000 injuries without review.
- Around 670,000 Medicaid and Medicare Savings Program recipients had sensitive personal information publicly viewable due to improper privacy settings between 2021 and 2025 due to an error from the Illinois Department of Human Services.
- Governor Pritzker signed an energy law expected to deliver an estimated $8 billion increase in utility rates on Illinois families.
- He signed a mass transit bailout that diverts $473 million each year from downstate road funding and opens the door to new RTA sales taxes and toll hikes.
- Governor Pritzker welcomed Texas Democrats who fled their state over redistricting, all while presiding over what many experts call the most gerrymandered maps in the nation.
- He has repeatedly used divisive rhetoric, including comparing Republicans to Nazi Germany, further inflaming political tensions.
- He goes after federal law enforcement while his sanctuary state policies have driven an avoidable immigration crisis in Illinois.
- He even posed for photos with an individual later charged in a violent hit and run on the Magnificent Mile.
The House Republican Truth in Public Safety Working Group has filed over 40 bills to fix the SAFE-T Act and protect our communities, including a repeal filed by Representative Cabello (HB 1028). Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer has filed HR 494 to condemn divisive political rhetoric and encourage peaceful political discourse. Representative Ryan Spain has filed HJRCA 5 to end gerrymandering in Illinois.
